A year full of Acrylic and Creativity

I can't believe this year is about to come to an end. It has been another great year for me, artistically speaking, and full of so much growth. I have sold many of my collection pieces and had the great opportunity to complete many commissioned pieces as well. I have met a lot of great artists in the community, including some of our artistic younger generation. I had to pleasure of being the creative guide for kids in my community, and helping show them how easy it is to express themselves through art. Overall, I couldn't be happier.

With 2014 I am deciding it is time to take more risks and open up more of my soul. I am going to be starting two new collections. So stay tuned for those! I am going to be reaching out to more art groups and places in Grande Prairie to help assist me in displaying my collections. I am FOR SURE wanting to participate in events like The Art Walk in Edmonton this coming summer, and Albert Art Days. I have also been researching and preparing to start approaching galleries within Canada. I am so passionate about art, especially mine, that it is time I take this huge step! I have already begun the process. People really have no idea how much work it is for artists and gallery owners to show one collection. CRAZY! But with all the hard work and all my dedication, I am sure that things are going to be incredible and I am going to send out as much positive energy out there that I can!

Please forward my site and share my links with your friends and collogues. Make sure you add me to your Google circles so you can always get my updates and see what is going on. All of this will help me get more out there! I also love feedback too. If you see something you like or you want more information on a piece, please leave a comment or contact me at megolson81@gmail.com.

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and I wish you all the best in the new year. May you all be blessed with love and laughter!

Hey everyone! So the time is coming quickly where I am having the great honor to use my talent to help a great cause! The Odyssey House art fundraiser, The journey through family violence art fundraiser, is about to start up. My piece titled "Rising above" will be displayed at the Holiday Inn, and my piece titled "Once upon a time..." will be displayed at the ATB branch. Please make a point to get down and place a bid on the pieces to help raise monies and awareness around this cause. Both pieces will be up from Nov 2-27, and then make their way to the Famers Market Christmas Sale on Nov 28. It has been such a great honor to be asked to participate in such a great event. Thank you Odyssey House, and I hope my pieces are able to raise some serious funds!!!

Thank you everyone for all your love and support!

1st Piece for Odyssey House

Here is the first piece completed for the Odyssey House art auction. Painting these has been a real emotional journey for me and something I hold very close. I am honored to be a part of such an event that not only support a great organization within my own community, but that build awareness of family violence. This piece is called "Rising above". Stay tuned for piece #2 and details of where they are at so you can go and support this amazing cause. This painting is a must see in person as it is difficult to see all the details as I only used black and metallic paint.

Mr. Peyton and his creative expression

Peyton was so fun to create with over the summer. He fell in love with using plaster and then painting over it. He was a dinosaur expert too! I hope I can paint with him again sometime! Here are a few photo's...

Update

Hey everyone!

It has been a busy summer. I had a great time guiding children to express themselves through art this summer. It was great to get to know all the children and just see how their minds work. I have lots of pictures to post, but I am still working on getting consent to do so from all the families. So stay tuned for that.

I was also buys painting my own wall mural in my bedroom. It was fun to finally do a piece for myself to enjoy only! I have posted the pictures for that today. So take a peek. I have also started building my new collection. I hope you all like. Please let me know if you are interested in any of the pieces, or if you have something that you would like commissioned.

Right now I am currently working on a few custom pieces, as well as my two donations for the Odyssey House in Grande Prairie. They will be doing their second annual silent auction art fundraiser in November. Pieces from local artists will be up for auction throughout the city. I will let everyone know where mine will be up so you all can go and place your bids. It is for such a great cause and I am thrilled to be able to be a part of it!!

Stay tuned....

First week of Art Classes!

I just had the best week! It was so much fun finally being able to spread a little bit of creativity and encouraging kids to freely express themselves. We learned and talked about different mediums you can use for art, the color wheel and how different colors can make you feel, and a whole bunch of fun techniques you can do with acrylic paint. I had a blast! I can't wait for this next week.

Here are some pics from the week. I am only posting the ones of my kids who also participated in the class and finished pieces. Stay tuned for this next weeks pictures!

Aspen Grove Painting

This is a painting I did for the school that I work at, Aspen Grove. Each month the school focus's on a different virtue that they try to instill in the students. The months virtue was creativity. I painted this for the school and did a little speech about it at an assembly. I talked about how I never was taught HOW to paint, I just believed in myself, followed my dreams and passions, and created paintings that showed my creativity and expressed my feelings. I hope that as it is displayed in the hallway the students and teachers are reminded that they too can follow their dreams and do what they love. It also made the kids think that I am famous...which is fun too! :)

A New Look!!

Hey everyone!

So I have decided to change things up a bit and have re-vamped my site. It is the start of all the exciting changes and events that are going to be going on for me in the next few months. I am in the process of creating a whole new collection which I am going to be showing at the Grande Prairie Street Performers Festival in July. So stay tuned for more details on the weekend event! I am super excited! I am also branching out into artwear and am going to be creating incredibly awesome, one of a kind clothing pieces. Again, stay tuned for pictures to purchase these.

I am also currently working on a new mural in the Arnold/Bjordal home. It is a cool way to display a family tree. Stay tuned for final pictures. I am really proud of this piece and should be done this weekend.

If you are interested in a mural or in need of some cool art to display in your home, please email me at megolson81@gmail.com  As well, make sure you add yourself as a member of the site to get all the updates and see any pieces posted, and leave feedback.

Bless.

Branching out!

Hey everyone!

So I have officially branched out to wall murals. I am now working on my 3rd wall mural and am having so much fun creating. If you are looking to add that special touch to a room or your kids want that awesome theme bedroom that I think we all wanted as kids, let's make it happen. You can contact me at megolson81@gmail.com. I am also doing some planning on how I can start doing fun art birthday parties for those creative children. Grande Prairie is in need of some new and fun ways to celebrate birthdays and what is more fun then ART! Stay tuned for further information or if you have any ideas or comments for the birthday idea, please let me know. Feedback would be fantastic!

Til then my friends.....

Stevie Ray Vaughan

The second mural is done!

I have been busy working on my second mural in the Verbecky home. I finished ZZ Top and now am done Stevie Ray Vaughan. This is so much to step out of my comfort zone but still play around with bold colors and even splatter painting technique. I have two more to go, so stay tuned!

The Center for Creative Arts Christmas show and sale was so great. I made some sales and met some great people. I want to thank them for allowing me to show my work in their gallery. I am now looking into possibly signing up for the Edmonton Art Walk this coming summer. It should be a great opportunity for me and my art, so I am hoping it all works out.

I am going to be teaching some little art groups with children who want to express themselves creatively. I can't wait. I love encouraging children to explore art, especially when their isn't a specific final product. Just create! It is going to be amazing! Let me know if you have a little creative spirit who would love to find a fun place to explore art.

Thanks again for everyone's support!
