Artist Statement

At this time, my work is an abstract and unconventional way of looking at life. I have transformed over the years, as I allowed myself to go from creating my dreams to painting my realities. It's the world through my eyes.

I use bold acrylic colors and various techniques which include mediums such as plaster, newsprint, water, and various recycled materials. I always use acrylic paint and tend to paint on either canvas or basic wood doors. I also use my painting techniques on fabric to create unique, wearable art scarves.

I have used art as a non-objective way to express what I cannot say with words. The paint is my language. I start with an idea, event, or passion and convert that by experimentation, to an emotional connection on the canvas or wood. Painting is like my own personal art therapy. I hope to evoke personal thought and reflection with each piece.

I also use my passion for art to inspire the younger generation within my community. By encouraging a freedom within art and creative expression, children are able to let go of society norms and connect with themselves. While providing open opportunities for children to do so, I hope to instill a sense of self worth and a true love of art.
